Moving from the United States
TRICARE can pay overseas. Medicare still does not.
TRICARE is the US program that often does pay overseas, which is why it is not the same page as Medicare. Active duty and command-sponsored family use the TRICARE Overseas Program. A family member who is not command-sponsored may have no overseas enrollment. Retirees on TRICARE For Life keep TRICARE as the first payer outside the United States, because Medicare pays nothing there.

Who is covered
TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas is for active duty, including activated National Guard and Reserve, and command-sponsored family in designated remote locations. Retirees cannot enroll in it. TRICARE For Life is for retirees and eligible family who have Medicare Part A and Part B. Inside the US, Medicare pays first. Overseas, TRICARE pays first for covered services, and you pay TRICARE deductibles and cost-shares. Another health plan, if you have one, pays before TRICARE.
